Second Update Wednesday, January 17, 2001 (1:05 PM, PST) We've just received a report from a reader in Britain who bore witness to a Monday night test screening of Nicolas Cage's new movie, Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Not only did our reviewer like this early cut of the film, but they even gave thumbs up to the parts when Nic Cage had to sing. Any movie that can pull that one off deserves to be seen. http://www.corona.bc.ca/films/details/corellismandolin.html (Captain Corelli's Mandolin) Please read more here. -Thanks Moon-sun! All of us should get out to see this movie to support Nic in his virgin Producing debut! I would love for this movie to be a hit so that Nic and his friend/partner Jeff Levine can reap the rewards of success after being skewered so many times in Hollywood! Nic has such an artistic side, I want to see what "spin" he puts on this one from afar!"-Thanks Bonnie AWARDS IN PALM SPRINGS LAST WEEKEND- "Charles A. NEVER ON TUESDAY REVIEW BY BETH "I actually had the opportunity to watch Never on Tuesday over Christmas...almost forgot to mention it to you guys. It was filmed in my parents town of Borrego Springs and is probably the ONLY place you can find it to rent. The film is about a girl, Tuesday who gets in a car wreck with a couple of guys and all three are left stranded in Borrego (middle of the desert - nowhere)overnight. There' several cameo appearances by stars in cool cars who stop, talk then leave the three stranded. Nicolas Cage is..."Man in Red Car" driving maybe his own red Ferrari. Remember this is 1988/9 or so. He's got a fake nose and acts kinda Woody Woodpecker-ish. Funny, cute...he interacts with the three for maybe 5 minutes max..probably more like 1 min 30 seconds. Yes, he's good...though the film is definitely a B movie. Alot of talk, one set, low budget, slow moving..you get the picture. I'd recommend it only for the diehard Cage fans and those that live in and around Borrego. The lady at the video store told me she actually used to give prizes to anyone who recognized and could name the extras - Borrego residents. That's a small town for ya."
