Nicolas Cage stars as a drifter just looking for work, but he has a bum knee and has a hard time getting work. He ventures into a town called Red Rock, where he is misplaced as a hitman by the head townsman to murder his wife. Cage along w/the supporting cast of Dennis Hopper and the sexy Lara Flynn Boyle make the movie more intense and unpredictable. This is an highly underrated film by Cage, gaining little recognition as a Con-Air or Face-Off. Go and check this movie out, it's worth the price a rental fee." Shadow of the Vampire - Screening Review by Beth From the days of Wild at Heart, Willem Defoe has always personified 'total creepiness' to me and is nothing less than perfect in the role of Max Schrecht…a 'man' who is or at least believes he's a vampire. The film gives its own version on the production of arguably the best vampire film ever, Nosferatu. By offering the star actress as a final meal, John Malkovich, as director Murnau, convinces Max, a perfect vampire rendition, to play the part of an actor, acting as a vampire. Is he? Or isn't he the 'real thing'?… is the question that keeps the cast, director and audience guessing, as cast members disappear. An incredibly original screenplay, authentic production, comedic relief and excellent acting gives this independent film a chance at several Oscar nods. Not surprisingly, Saturn's first production is inline with what we've come to expect from Nicolas Cage all along…lovably quirky, obsessive method acting with an artistic flare. I'd give it an A, definitely worth seeing on the big screen…already showing in LA and NY…coming to you, January 26th. www.shadowofthevampire.com. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- LETTER FROM ONE OF NIC'S FANS: Letter from the site in Spanish from Elizabeth (Thanks for the translation Lucia) "'Suggestion - Hello, I salute you from Mexico, and I would like if there was a Spanish version to this page, for those who don't know much English. INTERVIEWS from: http://www.contentmail.com/ January 8, 2001 Cage tells E!Online, "When I started acting, I was much more an anarchist. I was only interested in more rebellious kinds of punk rock, alternative expressions. I became aware, however, that I was going to 'intense' or 'weird' myself right out of the business. ... I had neglected the other side of the industry." Cage on Shadow of the Vampire, "The movie is totally 'out there.' There's no disguise or formula, and it wasn't enhanced with the kinds of demands that sometime inhibit creativity. I'm very proud of what we achieved. It is totally uncompromised. And Dafoe's 'Schreck' is the most compelling vampire I've ever seen!"
